Freestyle Choy Lay Fut uses long hand techniques, such as  pendulum hand movements, sweeps and takedowns, but few kicks. This is a very powerful attack based system.

After an effective, attack based martial arts system?

This is a traditional system that keeps the attacker at a distance with fluid circular hand movements so that sweeps can be used to great effect.

As the system is attack based the hand techniques are powerful, quick and hard for opponents to deal with and defend.  By controlling distance it becomes very hard for an opponent to land any strikes but at the same time allows  the practitioner s techniques to be delivered at the correct distance.

The punches and strikes carry a lot of power coupled with the momentum generated from the circular action makes this a very effective martial arts system.

ATTACKED BASED SYSTEM

USE OF SWEEPS

POWER GENERATION

The basis of the system is first and foremost attack, whilst preventing the opponent from getting close. Unlike Freestyle Pak Mei attacking moves, each movement is a fluid circular motion designed to carry on from the last technique with fast footwork keeping the attacker at a distance so that sweeps can be incorporated at any time

Sweeps are often an overlooked technique but if an opponent can be brought to the ground with in the first two or three moves then a sparring  / self defence situation can be brought to an end very quickly.

Power is easily generated with the swinging arm motions without sacrificing a good solid stance, this creates a considerable amount of power and momentum

This system is especially good for dealing with multiple opponents, in fact “Bruce Lee” is quoted as saying its one of the only systems equipped to deal with such situations as its very hard to attack and defend against someone who is proficient.
